self-love is a key to success

I like the quote from Prentis Hemphill, “Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.” That quote encompasses one of the boundaries I try to live out: the boundary of self-love.

Self-love is a huge key to professional and personal success!

Self-love is not the same thing as self-care. Self-care is all about taking care of yourself physically, or maybe even mentally or spiritually. Self-ove is all about taking care of yourself emotionally.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any great personal stories or examples of self-love. It’s something I still struggle with. But it’s something I’m working really, really hard at.

In an Instagram-driven world with carefully curated feeds and Photoshopped models, it’s often hard to develop self-love. Self-love is all about loving yourself unapologetically, and that can be hard to do when you get caught up in comparing yourself to others.

Too often we look in the mirror and see ourselves as something ugly. We downgrade ourselves to less than what we really are. I’m guilty of doing that all the time!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.2.2″][et_pb_image src=”https://deemahramadan.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/laura-chouette-a9mzGU6SWDc-unsplash.jpg” _builder_version=”4.2.2″ module_alignment=”right” max_height=”220px” hover_enabled=”0″ align=”right”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.2.2″ custom_margin=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.2.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.2.2″ custom_margin=”0px||15px|0px|false|false” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false”]

But I’m working on it. A big part of getting better at self-love is getting rid of the people in your life that tear you down and surrounding yourself with a support system composed of people that build you up. That support system is a requirement to work on self-love! I’m lucky to have a support system of people that build me up.

Do you downgrade yourself like I do? Should you be working on your self-love?

You need to intentionally build a support system. Improving your self-love will make you a better entrepreneur, a better friend, and a better person.

What’s the first thing that comes across your mind when you read the title of this blog, Power of One? Is your answer a positive view or a negative one?

“Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.”

Today on my home page powered by Momentum, I read this quote by Buddha, “Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.”

I am a morning person and I yearn for that first moment in the morning when I wake up ready to seize the day. At that moment, I make the most important choice. I immediately set the mood for the rest of my day. At that second, I, like most, make a cognizant choice that will impact my mood and my actions for the next 14-16 hours.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.2.2″ custom_margin=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false” custom_padding=”5px|0px|5px|0px|false|false”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.2.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.2.2″ custom_margin=”0px|0px|0px|0px|true|true” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|true|true”]

That split-second decision determines if I am going to have one of the most positive, productive days yet or spend my day just chugging along in a miserable fashion. The split-second decision sets the foundation for my attitude and the domino effect that comes next.

In that moment, I choose positivity, no matter what. No matter if I was up half the night with my toddler, or restless because of challenges from work that kept my mind racing. Why do I choose to be positive over the latter?

legacy of positivity

I am the person that you would say has the outlook of ‘the glass is half full’. I choose to be grateful for the new day that I was granted, and I am presently aware of the affects I leave behind. I am boldy aware of my Power of One. The tone that I set at home and then later at work becomes my legacy.

With today’s social media, the power of one person has been taken to new heights. The legacy that is left behind on the world wide web is daunting for me. With that, I now bring you my personal website, which stretches me on a personal level.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ make_equal=”on” _builder_version=”4.2.2″ module_alignment=”center” custom_margin=”15px|0px|15px|0px|false|false” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false” custom_css_main_element=”justify-content: center;”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.2.2″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.2.2″ custom_margin=”0px|0px|0px|0px|true|true” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|true|true”]

My goal is to leave a legacy of positivity. A legacy that we can go through our days with a positive perspective versus a pessimistic view.

Next time you walk into a busy grocery store, coffee shop, or restaurant, as homework, I would like you to step back and just watch the people walking in and out.  Observe the exchange of positivity and negativity.  Sit back and watch what happens next.

daily choice

In closing, remember that each human matters. You have the power to leave a positive or negative vibe with those that you interact with daily. Even if it’s just a smile, a good morning, or a head nod.

You as one person, can start a gossip ring at work with just one short sentence. In that same moment, you could clear the air and set them team on a more positive, non-dramatic path.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not perfect nor am I like that R.E.M song, “Shiny happy people.” I have my share of bad moments. I am trying to be more present in my daily life and ensure that overall, I have a positive day and just negative moments versus a negative day with positive moments.

So, tomorrow morning, when you wake, what Legacy will you choose?
